TACKIFIERS (ADHESIVE ADDITIVES)
Tackifiers are additives that add an adhesive quality to lubricating oils, greases and fluids. This prevents them from sloughing, dripping or dispersing in high-speed equipment. They also improve the sealing ability, surface wettability and cohesion of these lubricants. An efficient tackifier accomplishes this with a low increase in viscosity or other properties. These additives are used in a wide variety of applications such as chain and bar oils, saw guide oils, greases, open gear lubricants, and more.

VISCOSITY MODIFIERS
OLEFIN COPOLYMERS:
Olefin copolymers (OCPs) are a category of medium to high molecular weight polymers ideal for medium to low shear applications. These applications include engine or crankcase oils, tractor fluids, hydraulic fluids, pneumatic oils, greases, corrosion preventatives, and general purpose industrial lubricants. OCPs are a cost-effective alternative to heavy petroleum oils and offer both improved low temperature fluidity and increased high temperature viscosity.

POLYMETHACRYLATES:
Polymethacrylate copolymers (PMA) offer greatly improved shear stability, viscosity index, and low temperature fluidity compared to OCPs. OCPs typically have a shear strength index (SSI) of 20 to 60 per ASTM D6278; PMAs can reach SSI as low as 0 per the same ASTM D6278 and require more aggressive testing such as 20 hours KRL (CEC L-45-A-99) to show viscosity reduction due to shear.

HIGH VISCOSITY SYNTHETIC BASES
Synthetic base stocks are defined as shear stable polymers that meet or exceed the 15% viscosity loss per DIN 51350-6 (also known as 20 Hour KRL or CEC L-45-A-99) for applications such as high viscosity index HVLP hydraulic fluids or OEM gear oils. These high viscosity options can effectively thicken low viscosity fluids with minimal viscosity loss in severe service applications.

ANIMAL OILS
METALWORKING FLUIDS
LARD OILS: These are used as cutting, quenching and honing oils. They are also used in drawing and stamping fluids. We have several grades designed for cement mold release applications. The free fatty acids in the oil react with the cement to make a soap. This allows the lubricant to be both a chemical and physical mold release agent.
LEATHER OILS
NEATSFOOT OILS: They have been used for centuries in leather products because of their ability to impart certain desired properties to the leather. During the tanning process, natural oils are removed from the hide. If these natural oils are not replaced, the leather will become stiff and unusable. When applied during tanning and periodically afterward, it lubricates the leather fibers and waterproofs it.
MINK OILS: Used to obtain greater protection and flexibility.
TALLOWS AND STEARINS: Excellent filling compounds.
